Visuals help us to understand the complexities of life with a sweet, almost childlike, simplicity. Illustration, lettering, and graphic design have become tools for me to better understand the hard and confusing things this mere life holds. Through warm color palettes, charming touches, and endearing elements, I use the resources that God has given me to be a mirror of His beauty for His exaltation. This lifestyle draws me back to the childlike simplicity and awe of my Maker. I strive to help make that connection for those who see my work.

Within my work, you will see whimsy, softness, femininity, and a love for the details. As someone who comfortably sits between Type A and Type B, I hope to strive for excellence in my work while not forgetting the importance of grace (a difficult balance). More importantly, I love the relationships that I gain through my work. Design is important, but to me, people are far more important as each is an image bearer of our Creator. I deeply value positive relationships with my clients and hope to know each one beyond the design we work through together.

I began running my small design studio full-time after completing my MFA in graphic design and working in the industry for five years. I met many incredible people and learned key lessons about graphic design, but I always dreamt of one day working with my own clients and creating custom work. In September of 2023, Olivia Smith Design came into full-time reality and I have loved every single moment thus far. This included a move from Nashville, Tennessee back to my roots in Lynchburg, Virginia (with my husband and a baby on the way) where I work from my cozy space with spiced candles and good snacks.
